To sleep. Perchance to dream- From Hamlet by William Shakespeare
Welcome to the Dream Analysis column where you can email your dreams and receive a free analysis of the dream, and perhaps learn a bit about interpreting the symbols of your own dreams and forming your own analysis. This is a basic information column meant to provide simple and basic information for educational purposes and is not meant to provide diagnosis of illnesses or disorders or provide in depth psychological counseling.
I will be providing a more in depth online workshop in the future for those who desire a more comprehensive look into the symbolism of the subconscious, and how this can be applied not only to dreams but everyday life as well.

The practice of interpreting the symbols and finding the meaning in one's dreams is ancient. Many ancient cultures have long held the belief that our dreaming lives are as important as our waking lives, in fact many believe our 'dream time' is more important.
There are many examples of the importance of dreams and their symbols illustrated throughout history in literature, myths, art, and various sacred texts. Many of the ancient spiritual and mythological stories and texts are told using symbols that can be interpreted much the same way we interpret our dreams. These symbols come from the language of the subconscious mind, using dream interpretation techniques on these stories and texts can be very effective and illuminating in uncovering the development of the collective consciousness of humankind since the beginning of time.
A few basic rules in learning to interpret one's dreams are as follows:
- Every person in your dream represents an aspect of yourself: for males, females represent the subconscious aspects of the self; for women, males represent the subconscious aspects of the self; the same gender as you represents the conscious aspects; people of authority represent superconscious aspects.
- An automobile represents our physical body, since this is the vehicle in which we get around in waking life, it represents the vehicle our minds get around in.
- Houses (or dwellings) represent the mind as a whole; this is where we live both literally and figuratively.
A basic but more comprehensive list of symbols can be found in the dream dictionary. The list of symbols I have offered here is just a starting point to introduce you to the basic idea behind the most frequent and major symbols. The explanations of the symbols will come out in more detail and context in the interpretations themselves.
In sharing this method of dream interpretation it is my endeavor to teach others how to become more familiar with the symbolism of their dreams and eventually learn the language of their own subconscious mind.
Pleasant dreaming,
Aine

Dream #3
I was wondering if you could help me with my dream, it really bothered me.
Last night I dreamed that I was standing on the street and I saw this weird looking bus with huge billboard size tvs on the sides. All of a sudden it floated off its wheels and went into the air like a takeoff so I remember just thinking "oh, that's a new plane but about a minute into takeoff it started to nose dive towards the street. I remember getting nervous and then it crashed dramatically into the pavement. It was in flames. I kept calling
911 and no one would answer. People that I knew were walking up and talking to me like they didn't see or care about the burning plane. I can really remember anything after that but the fact somehow I ended up in my living room.
Please help me decifer this cause I can't get it off my mind. Thanks.

Interpretation #3
Thank you for sharing your dream. Every symbol in our dreams represents some aspect of our own consciousness at different level. Vehicles represent physical bodies, either literally or figuratively. In the case of large passenger vehicles, such as buses and planes, the symbol represents some form of physical universal consciousness body: this usually takes the form in the physical as institutions, such as educational bodies (schools, universities, etc.); governments and their physical entities; religions and religious doctrine, medical institutions, etc.
In your dream the bus had large television screens on the sides of the bus; the television screen would represent the imagination. The bus taking off into flight and then crashing and burning represents that you have been using your imagination to free yourself from some institutionalized thinking and attitudes, and perhaps even a physical institution. What you have been able to do using the imagination in the way of freeing yourself is causing expansion (fire) but it is a bit of a shock to the system (crashing, explosions).
There is a part of you that is uncomfortable with the expansion, (you in the dream as the conscious observer represents this), but there are other parts of you that feel very comfortable with the changes, (represented by the other people in your dream who didn't seem to notice anything unusual).
I hope this was helpful.

Interpretation #2
Thank you for sharing your dream. People of the opposite gender, who are not in authority positions, represent subconscious aspects of the conscious dreamer. This aspect would be an area in your subconscious that you wish to harmonize with, sexual behavior represents harmony or the desire for harmony. If this symbol of the male in your dream is a representation of someone who you know in your waking life, then the qualities this person possesses or that you are projecting they possess, are qualities you would like to harmonize within yourself.
Babies are new ideas or new ways of life; the desire for a baby in a dream represents a desire for something new in oneself: new ideas, a new life, new behaviors, etc.
The anger and disharmony between you and the male in your dream represents a conflict within, as you struggle with a relationship with yourself and areas you would like to develop in yourself but struggle with because you are having difficulties fully committing to yourself and promises you make to yourself.

Dream #1
Last night I had a dream about being in a tomb. The tomb was huge and above me was a bulldozer pouring dead bodies over me. I managed to climb out. Once I climbed out, I stood on a platform next to the tomb. But once the original tomb was filled, my platform sank into another tomb. When it sank, more dead bodies were poured on me. I managed to climb out again.
Do you have any idea of what this symbolizes? I'd appreciate it, thank you.

Interpretation #1
Dear Hopeful Dreamer,
Thank you for sharing your dream.
The dead bodies symbolize stagnation, the dirt would symbolize subconscious mind activity, so there is some activity happening on the subconscious level that is affecting the conscious level (the bulldozer; you climbing out) to get some movement going. (Paying attention to your dreams and trying to figure out their symbolism is one way of subconscious activity spurring conscious response, for example)
But the tomb suggests deeper, unconscious shadow issues buried underneath causing the stagnation. To overcome unconscious, deeply buried issues it is important to continue working on wholistic thinking and activity and consciously taking control of growth. One way to do this, as stated, is to continue paying attention to the subconscious symbolism of your dreams to continue that connection; another is to meditate or even visualize, asking the subconscious to bring the issue up for you so that you can consciously take action to overcome and heal the issue.
Examples of buried unconscious issues are issues that we learn and make a misconception or misunderstanding about that turns into fear, anger, guilt, shame, etc. These shadow issues also get represented in the "other" and the idea that we are separate. Projection onto others issues we are afraid to look at as being a part of ourselves is a common manifestation of these issues in our waking lives.
The irony is that if we don't examine and embrace ourselves wholistically, all of ourselves, then these issue take control of our lives as we are not taking the responsibility to consciously take control and have the acceptance that all is perfection and whole. It is only when we start getting into separatist and duality thinking, projecting and creating more separation and imagining these false emotions of fear and guilt that we create this as our reality.
In service, love and light,
